VENICE, FL, August 7, 2023 – Venice Farmers Market joins markets across the country in celebrating National Farmers Market Week from August 7-13, 2023.

Farmers markets foster direct relationships between community members and farmers which can work to create a more fair and sustainable food system. Farmers markets are a hub for connection and collective action around shared values.

National Farmers Market Week is an annual celebration of farmers markets coordinated by the Farmers Market Coalition, a membership-based nonprofit organization that supports farmers markets nationwide through training, technical assistance, and network-building. This year, the campaign is centered around the essential role that farmers market operators play in our local food systems and in developing resilience in communities as hubs for local economies and connection.

The Venice Farmers Market began in 1996, and currently hosts 75+ vendors selling a wide variety of products, and we look forward to welcoming our vendors that will return for the season this fall.

Independent Jones, Chief Executive Officer & President, Morgan Bettes Angell, stated, “We’re honored to produce the Venice Farmers Market in the City of Venice. We’re excited to celebrate National Farmers Market Week with our vendors and community. Thank you to everyone for shopping locally, and enjoying everything the beautiful historic downtown has to offer!”

The Venice Farmers Market operates year-round, Saturday mornings, April – September, 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and October – March 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., at Venice City Hall located at 401 West Venice Avenue, Venice, Florida 34285.
The Venice Farmers Market offers SNAP/EBT through Feeding Florida every week at the market where guests can come buy local produce and locally made take home goods. This program supports both those using the program, as well as the vendors.

“Farmers markets are abundant sources of food, connection and resilience in our communities across the country, but they don’t just happen on their own.” said Ben Feldman, Farmers Market Coalition Executive Director. “Behind the scenes of every successful farmers market is a dedicated person or team working to make the market thrive. These farmers market operators are experts who need community and financial support to run their markets and resources specifically designed for their needs. Throughout National Farmers Market Week 2023, we will be highlighting the vital work of farmers market operators across the nation. Join us!”
